A Complete Guide to buying a Quality Pre Owned RV
Welcome to the Tri City RV used RV Blog. In addition to our Used RV's For Sale page on our website, we would like to assist you in your purchase of a used camper by providing some information that you may find helpful. Roughly 65% of the used campers we appraise that are over 5 years old have some form of RV water damage. That being said, it is important when looking for a pre-owned RV to make sure that the
RV value is in line with the NADA used camper value. Below are 6 steps that we believe will help assure that you are getting the best-used camper for your money.
1. Is the used travel trailer or used fifth wheels asking price in line with the NADA RV loan value? Banks will only do an RV loan on the "book" RV value. Many private sellers are selling
their used RV for "what they owe," NOT what the used camper loan value is.
2. Is there any structural RV water damage to the unit? Are the RV sidewalls delaminating or pulling loose from the RV sidewall? Is the RV floor wet or spongy?
3. Are all of the RV appliances working or have they been tested by trained RV technicians? If not, how much will the RV repairs be? Have you actually performed or tested the RV water heater, RV furnace, RV air conditioning, and other items?
4. What is the condition of the RV roof/seals? Has the RV roof been cleaned and maintained regularly? Has the RV roof sealant been reapplied/inspected annually? Are the RV roof moldings loose?
5. Have the RV wheel bearings been re-packed as recommended by the axle manufacturer? We recommend that RV wheel bearings be re-packed every 3 years or 2000 miles, whichever comes first.
6. Can I tow my pre-owned RV with the tow vehicle I have? Visit our RV towing capacity blog at https://tricityrv.com/customer...
